How StudyPDF started
I am R Sri Ram, a Computer Science and Engineering graduate from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli, who graduated in 2025. StudyPDF did not begin as a startup idea. It began as frustration.
Anyone who has filled a government exam form in India knows the feeling. The photo has to be exactly 350×450 pixels and somewhere between 20 and 50 KB. The signature has to be under 20 KB. The portal rejects the upload without telling you which rule you broke. You try another free website, it makes you sign up, it stamps a watermark on your file, and then it tells you that you have used your two free conversions for the day.
What bothered me most was not the inconvenience. It was what we were all quietly agreeing to. To shrink a photo by a few kilobytes, students were uploading marksheets, Aadhaar scans, signed declarations and ID proofs to servers owned by companies they knew nothing about. Deadline pressure makes you click accept. I did it too.
Then it occurred to me that none of this needs a server at all. The browser on your own phone is already powerful enough to do every one of these jobs.
That single realisation is the entire product. If the processing happens on your device, there is nothing to upload, nothing to store, and nothing that can leak later. It also means the tools cost almost nothing to run — which is exactly why StudyPDF can stay free, with no limits and no premium tier, instead of pretending to be free until you hit a wall.
I built the first version for myself and a few classmates. It kept growing because every student I showed it to had one more thing they were struggling with — merging notes before a submission, compressing an assignment to fit a portal limit, resizing a thumb impression, signing a form without a printer. Today it is 47 working tools, and it still runs entirely inside your browser.

Design, development, testing, support — and the person who replies to your email.
That is the whole team. There is no company behind this, no investors and no marketing department. Just one developer who got tired of the problem and decided to fix it properly. If something is broken or missing, you are not raising a ticket into a void — you are emailing the person who wrote the code.
What I am trying to build
A place students can use for the boring, urgent, deadline-night document work — without paying, without registering, and without handing over their personal documents. Every decision on this site comes back to those three things.
If a feature cannot work without a server, I say so plainly instead of quietly shipping your document somewhere.
No daily limits, no premium tier, no watermark you must pay to remove. Donations only, and always optional.
No accounts, no analytics, no advertising cookies. I do not know who you are, and I do not want to.
PDF password encryption cannot be done safely in a browser, so it is marked unavailable rather than shipped as a fake lock.
