Getting your exam photo and signature size right

Most exam portals reject uploads for one of three reasons: the photo or signature is the wrong pixel dimensions, the file is over the KB limit, or the background isn't plain white. SSC exams typically want a 200×230px photo under 20KB and a 140×60px signature under 10KB, while UPSC, NEET, and banking exams each set their own limits — which is why a generic photo editor usually gets it wrong on the first try.

This tool works from the exam's exact preset, so it resizes and compresses to the precise pixel and KB target in one step. Because everything runs in your browser using the Canvas API, your photo and signature are never uploaded to a server — the file only leaves your device when you download the finished image, which matters if you're on a shared computer at a cyber cafe near the exam center.

If your portal rejects a photo even after resizing, the usual cause is background colour (must be plain white or light grey, no patterns), file format (JPEG only, not PNG or HEIC), or a signature that's been signed in blue ink and scanned with a shadow — try re-signing in black ink on plain white paper for a cleaner scan.

FAQ

Which exams are supported?

Presets cover SSC, UPSC, RRB, IBPS, SBI, NTA, IB, State PSC, CAPF and more — 86 exam presets in total across the toolkit.

What if my exam isn't listed?

You can enter a custom pixel size and KB limit directly.

Why does the portal still reject my photo after resizing?

Usually it's the background colour or file format, not the size. Use a plain white or light grey background, save as JPEG, and keep the file under the stated KB limit — most portals reject PNG uploads even if the pixel size is correct.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. Resizing happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API — the image never leaves your device until you choose to download it.
