Why exam and government forms ask for a resized thumb impression

Several recruitment exams and government forms — SSC, railway recruitment, and some state PSC applications — require a scanned left-thumb impression alongside your photo and signature, sized to a specific small pixel dimension and KB limit, usually similar to the signature specification.

This tool resizes and compresses a photographed or scanned thumb impression to the exact size a portal expects, keeping the ink pattern legible at the smaller dimensions rather than compressing it into an unreadable smudge.

For a clean scan, press your thumb onto a stamp pad and then onto plain white paper, avoiding smearing, then photograph it in good even light before uploading here — a blurry or smudged source image will still look poor no matter how it's resized.

FAQ

Which exams are supported?

Presets cover SSC, UPSC, RRB, IBPS, SBI, NTA, IB, State PSC, CAPF and more — 86 exam presets in total across the toolkit.

What if my exam isn't listed?

You can enter a custom pixel size and KB limit directly.

Which exams require a thumb impression upload?

SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, several railway recruitment board (RRB) exams, and some state government recruitment portals require it — check your specific exam's application instructions for the exact pixel and KB requirement.

What if my thumb impression scan looks too light or too dark?

This tool only resizes and compresses; it doesn't adjust ink contrast. If the impression is too faint, re-do it with slightly more ink pressure and a fresh stamp pad before scanning again.
